GoPro Fusion Example 360 Videos
Compared to other 360 cameras, the Fusion is able to shoot among the best 360 video I’ve ever seen. Colors are vibrant and the camera can pick up details from objects at a distance. Most importantly the stitching line where the video from the two separate lenses meet is almost invisible!
GoPro Fusion Overcapture Video
The GoPro Fusion is capable of shooting both immersive 360 video and also what is known as overcapture video. Overcapture is created using software provided by GoPro, it allows you to create stunning HD video with super smooth panning and unique angels using you 360 video shot with the Fusion. This also means you’ll never miss any important action, because the camera is constantly recording in full 360 and you can simply choose where to focus on when you edit the video.
The Fusion was released back in November and since then it’s received a few much needed software updated. You can now create overcapture video using only your phone and stabilization has been massively improved to the point at which it’s as good as using an electronic gimbal.
Having used the Fusion myself, and followed its growing community of content creators, I’ve been able to summarize the pros and cons of the camera:
- Best Quality 360 Video under $1000
- Very Accurate Stitching
- Overcapture Videos Look Amazing
- Stabilization Works Very Well
- Water Resistant
- Workflow is Complicated and Slow
- Stitching and Rendering Video Takes a Long Time
- Two MicroSD Cards Required
- Not Great at Photography
The software that is required to get the most out of the Fusion hasn’t been as well received as the cameras itself. Users complain of long rendering times and a needlessly lengthy workflow, however with each new update the software is improved and the Fusion is a flagship product for GoPro.
The Fusion is a hugely innovative camera with great potential, and as you’ve seen many people have already created some stunning videos with it. While the software may not be perfect, you can at least rest assured you have 30 days to test it out if you buy one from Amazon.
